Next to Mardi Gras, New Years is one of the best parties to be had in New Orleans. Jackson Square boasts the biggest party in town featuring live music all night long as well as a magnificent fireworks display. Instead of a typical ball drop at midnight, they do something a little different in this city. All can watch as the clock strikes midnight and a giant fleur de lis descends from a 25-foot pole on top of a building and the fireworks light up the sky in tune to the music.
